BMI started life in 1964 as British Midland, changing it's name to BMI British Midland in 2001 and shortened it to BMI in 2003.
The BMI headqurters is close to East Midlands Airport but it's main operational base is at Heathrow, where it takes 12% of all take off and landing slots and it now has a fleet of 42 aircraft, mostly Airbus A319 - A330.
